Introduction:
It is an American film of the year
1994, written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the short novel Rita
Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption written by Stephen King; and starring Tim
Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
This film was a success at its
launch, it about the story of Andrew Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a man vice
president of a major bank in Portland, accused and sentenced to prison for the
murder of his wife and his lover.
the story tells the crudest facts of
the stages that an inmate may experience during his stay in prison. Knowing the
character of Andrew as an intelligent and audacious man, he knows that in order
to survive this confinement he must study the internal movements of the prison
administration and thus gain a "prestigious" place and gain the
confidence of the Prison Director; and that it also benefits his colleagues, a
group to which Ellis Boyd Redding "Red" (Morgan Freeman) belongs.
Main Body:
It is difficult to talk about this
film without feeling a great affective inclination. This film is a masterpiece
of cinema, which is visually real, the sensations it handles, the plot and the
soundtrack are an exquisite blend of perfection. Each character has a purpose
and each one is deepened, until we realize that we know more about them than
about ourselves.
The performance of Robbins and
Freeman, do not leave any feeling to the spectator, because every speech, every
moment in the obscurity was a constant fear of not knowing what could happen if
you stop being alert, take care of every word, every movement, every action for
avoid winning enemies and not be the entertainment point of the group of
prisoners that even the devil fears.
There are many moments of flexion in
the movie where the desperation of wanting to intercede for the characters is
such that you only have the knot in your throat and you want that feeling of
helplessness to get away from you, because the movie gives you the message that
You have not seen the worst yet, a fact that leads you to reflect on the work
of Bob Gunton as Warden Samuel Norton (The prison director and the main
antagonist).
The film sins of having some prison
film clichés, as in which the protagonist was given the option of surrendering
to God in soul, because the body no longer belongs to him, the typical
character that remains inert to the events that occur, leading to life in the
prison so routine; That I could never adapt outside of it.
The movie does not prepare you for
the turn you take in its final stage, where the screams of glory and happiness
are presents and finally you release the knot they had submitted throughout the
film, all the facts and little winks are between Lazan to result in a
satisfactory ending.
Conclusion:
The Shawshank Redemption is a film
that nobody can miss, it could seem that the story is simply a drama but
contains messages of life and friendship that give great value to the film.
To tell the truth, watching this
movie is a way to change your perspective on the way you live. It's just a
great movie.
